Biography
He is a Telecommunications Engineer, a Licentiate in Documentation, a Master in Multichannel Content and a PhD in Documentation from the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). He is currently working as Assistant Professor Doctor in said university. Previously he worked as Researcher Juan de la Cierva at the University of Granada.
His fields of research are mainly focused on the application of quantitative and qualitative techniques to study the web phenomenon from the perspective of the Social Sciences. In particular, its lines of work include the design and testing of measurement models and web indicators and the identification, evaluation and prediction of online behavior, applied both in academic (researchers, publications, universities) and business environments (companies, products, brands ).
During his academic career he has made several research stays in institutions both Spanish (University of Granada, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas) and foreign (Long Island University, University of Wolverhampton, National University of La Plata).
Since 2012 he has been a member of the EC3 Research Group (Evaluation of Science and Scientific Communication) of the University of Granada (UGR), where he participated in the development of web scientific information tools for authors (HIndex Scholar, Co-author index ), publishers (Publishers Scholar Metrics, Book Publishers Library Metrics), journals (Journal Scholar Metrics) and disciplines (Scholar Mirrors; Spanish Library and Information Science). Since 2015 he is a founding member of the Trademetrics Research Group (UPV), where he has been part of the team of several research projects with national funding (CSO2016-78775-R, CSO2013-46138-P), focused on the wine market on the Web .
He has published nearly 100 contributions, including +50 articles in JCR journals, three monographs (Cybermetrics, measuring the web space, The Google Scholar revolution: uncovering Pandora’s academic box, Cybermetric Techniques to Evaluate Organizations Using Web-Based Data ) and a large number of reports and Working Papers. At the same time, he collaborates in international advisory activities on the academic visibility of universities, an area in which he has taught courses, workshops, seminars and conferences oriented to Webmetry, Bibliometrics and Research Evaluation (to date in more than 30 universities and universities). 10 different countries).
